Anthony Joshua’s Reaction to Eddie Hearn After Jake Paul Called Him Out
Including the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Conor McGregor, and Floyd Mayweather, Jake Paul has called out many huge names in the combat sports world since his venture into boxing began in 2020, but on Thursday the 20th of March 2025, the Problem Child made arguably his most daring and risky call-out yet.
During a newly released episode of his podcast, BS w/ Jake Paul, the social media sensation claimed he “will f beat Anthony Joshua’s ass,” and laid down a challenge to the British heavyweight star.
As is the case most of the time with a lot of the social media star’s call-outs, nobody in the boxing world really expects a fight with AJ to take place following Paul’s call-out However, Matchroom Boxing boss, Eddie Hearn, who has been Joshua’s promoter for many years, has revealed exactly how his fighter reacted to being challenged by Paul and his answer may shock you.

Eddie Hearn Reveals Anthony Joshua Is Open to Fighting Jake Paul
Hearn has revealed Joshua responded by saying “Why not?” when asked if he would fight Paul
Even though Jake Paul often gets looked at as a joke by many top-level professional boxers, Anthony Joshua is keen to fight him, at least according to his promoter, Matchroom boss, Eddie Hearn. In a newly released interview uploaded to the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel, Hearn was quizzed on Paul’s call-out of AJ by Jamie Ward and revealed that both he and his fighter “would do it for the banter.”
When speaking further on the situation, Hearn revealed that Joshua specifically told him to say “Tell everyone I’ll fight anyone, anytime.” With the British heavyweight star having no obvious opponent lined up next following Tyson Fury’s retirement from boxing, a fight against Paul now does seem somewhat of a possibility.
Speaking on the potential match-up between the social media star and the former heavyweight champion, Hearn played down the threat of Paul and made it clear that he thinks his fighter would wipe the floor with him.

Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul Would Be Huge
While it may not go down well with hardcore fans, Joshua vs Paul would be a massive fight
Although a fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul probably wouldn’t please many boxing purists and hardcore fans, the bout would be absolutely huge worldwide and would draw big numbers.
Paul has legitimised himself as one of the top stars in boxing over the last few years, whether or not hardcore fans want to admit it, and AJ has been, and remains to be, one of the biggest stars in the heavyweight division despite losing three of his last seven fights. Eddie Hearn has admitted that the fight would create “unbelievable viewership.”
