KSI claims Conor McGregor ‘refused’ as he opens up about talks to fight UFC superstar
KSI has publicly claimed that Conor McGregor ‘refused’ an offer to fight him.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer recently withdrew from a fight date with Conor McGregor‘s teammate.
KSI was supposed to face Dillon Danis on March 29, but he called off the boxing bout due to illness.
Now he’s opened up about another failed scrap with one of the best UFC fighters of all time.
KSI details Conor McGregor fight talks
Earlier this year, McGregor was linked to fights with KSI, Logan Paul, and Jake Paul.
Since then, ‘Notorious’ has distanced himself from comeback talk by launching a new career in politics.
“I mean, I tried,” KSI replied when asked if he’d consider fighting McGregor during an appearance on the Talk Tuah with Hailey Welch podcast.
“And it didn’t happen, he said, ‘Nah’. Yeah, he refused. It is what it is. He’s got a lot going on, especially with bare-knuckle and whatever situation he’s going through.
KSI added about fighting bare-knuckle: “Nah. I just don’t need to.
“I feel like I know my worth, and over the past couple of months, I’ve definitely understood what my worth is.”
KSI teases retirement
KSI has had a torrid time with his boxing career over the past few years, with almost all of his events having some degree of issue arising. He has pulled out of his last two fights, and has previously faced multiple cancellations, pull-outs, and controversies.
The 31-year-old lost his fight against Tommy Fury by unanimous decision before launching an unsuccessful appeal to have the result overturned. This followed a fight with Joe Fournier, where the result was overturned to a No Contest after he accidentally knocked his rival out with an elbow.
In a new video, KSI made a shock admission about retirement as he vented the frustrations he has with his boxing career, telling fans: “The amount of stress I’ve gone through over the past few years. Even with Misfits in general, it’s been stressful.
“I feel like I’ve aged in these two and a half years of Misfits being created. So where am I in terms of Boxing? I don’t know. Am I going to retire? I don’t know. Am I going to fight again? I don’t know.”
