Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford: Ryan Garcia Sceptical of One Fighter
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is expected to take place in September 2025 as the second fight of a four-fight agreement for the Mexican. The first bout will see Alvarez face William Scull, with the opportunity to become undisputed super middleweight again. Ryan Garcia, who is preparing for his comeback fight on May 2 against Rolly Romero and building up to all these stacked events, βKingryβ has spoken to the Ring Champs podcast, where he discussed the likely super fight between Canelo and Crawford and Garcia has cast doubt on βBudβ winning the bout.
Should Canelo defeat Scull as expected he will enter the Crawford fight as the undisputed super middleweight champion. βBudβ is an exceptionally strong fighter with an unbelievable ring IQ. He will be confident he can create history and become undisputed in a third weight class, having previously won all the belts at super lightweight and Welterweight.
When asked on the Ring Champs podcast how Crawford does against Canelo, Garcia said: βHe [Crawford] canβt beat Canelo. He didnβt look that strong against Madrimov, and Madrimov isnβt even big.β
Garcia added: βThe thing with Canelo is that heβs mastered his style. He understands whatβs always going on in the ring. I just donβt see him beating Canelo.β
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford: The Future for Canelo
Alvarez signing his four-fight deal with Riyadh Season was a huge moment for boxing and showed just how powerful Turki Alalshikh is. It is difficult to see anything other than a Canelo win on May 3 against Scull. Despite the size difference, many will back Crawford to defeat Alvarez.
Should the Mexican win his two scheduled fights in 2025, he is set to have two further fights in 2026 as part of the Riyadh Season agreement. Dmitry Bivol and Hamzah Sheeraz are just two opponents mentioned as possible dance partners for Canelo in 2026.
